Katakalon, Greece

May 18, we went to Katakalon, Greece. Katakalon is the site of the original Olympics. We saw the temples of Zeus and Hera and the museum. It was so amazing to stand exactly where the ancient Olympics were held.

This is the original arena where the games were held. Ed would not run the length of it, no matter how much I begged!

Those crazy crazy boys!

Corfu, Greece

On May 17 we went to Corfu, Greece. There is an old fortress and beautiful ruins on a cliff with old walls. We went to the Palace of St. Michael and the Museum of Archeology, then to a seaside cafe for Greek beer! Everything is so old! We saw ruins dating from about 300 BC.

On May 16 we headed to Dubrovnik, Croatia. I had no idea what to expect, but the city was incredible. The old city is surrounded by high walls, which we climbed and hiked around. It was hot, but afterward we found a cute little seaside bar named Buza, which Dianna had read about, and had a Croatian beer. We could see evidence of the 1991 Bosnian war, houses still in rubble and a few places where we could see a mortar had hit. I loved the way people hung their clothes on the lines outside their windows. A few photos:

You can see part of the wall here

We had poor or no internet coverage on the trip and I couldn't work on my blog. So I am going to try and do a city at a time with some of my favorite photos. Here are a few more photos from Venice:
Sailing away from Venice: Ed checked one thing off his bucket list: The Bridge of Sighs

Good friends (hahaha!!!) (we talked them into doing this!)
This city has been beyond what I expected. It is so beautiful. On to Dubrovnik!!
